Barnett in as Threlfall has change of heart

Moses Barnett has signed for Darlington on a month long loan deal from Premiership giants Everton. Barnett who can play at either left full back or centre half is expected to go straight into the Quakers squad as Darlington travel south to take on Dagenham and Redbridge this weekend.

Barnett has represented England internationally at under 16, under17 and under 18 levels and he has been regular in Everton`s reserve team squad in recent times. Moses had previously been with Arsenal before he joined the Toffees back in 20007. The Sierra Leone born defender will be eager to show the management team at Goodison Park that he is now ready to play football at senior level.

Moses may well be selected at left back as Steve Staunton has few options available to him on the left hand side of defence after Robbie Threlfall had a change of heart over his loan move to the north east from Liverpool. The signing of Threlfall had only been confirmed yesterday however Staunton has been able to bring a replacement in quickly after Threlfall decided against moving away from Anfield.

Mark Bower is another player who could fill the left back slot in Quakers away game at Victoria Road this weekend. Bower has just returned to full training after a spell out injured and he will be eager to get back into the first team after his enforced lay off. Bower has played regularly at centre back throughout his career however this season all of the former Bradford City man`s appearances have been on the left hand side of Darlo`s defence.
